What is ACE?

ACE – as the Association of Circulation Executives has long been affectionately known – is an association of like-minded executives drawn from the fields of newspaper and magazine publishing, news wholesaling and distribution and service provision. We already have over 400 members around the world, but seek more members to better represent the interests of publishers, distributors, transporters and wholesalers alike.

Beginning its life as a luncheon club with speakers from all walks of life, ACE now plays a more prominent role in trade affairs by bringing its members together regularly on a social basis, whether at the high-profile ACE Press Awards, the ACE International publishing Awards, or one of the many sporting and dining occasions run by ACE each year.

Perhaps the most popular event of the ACE calendar is the ACE Christmas Luncheon held at the Grosvenor House hotel, where more than 1,100 members and guests enjoy a truly international publishing event whilst raising funds for charity – NewstrAid among them – and networking to good effect.

Aims and objectives

The aims of ACE have changed little since it was founded in 1951 – to foster fellowship, friendship, and the exchange of ideas between members of our industry.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget how important relationship and networking are to our business effectiveness, and in this respect the more active members we have in our association, the more useful it becomes and the better we’re able to influence informed debate on today’s industry, and its future.

In outline, ACE seeks to:

• promote a wider knowledge and understanding of the circulation function.
• communicate its activities to all other sections of the newspaper, magazine and periodical industry.
• act as a forum for the discussion of common issues with all parties concerned with the distribution and sales of the press.
• encourage friendship and good fellowship among circulation executives.
