Trinity Mirror to close nine local newspapers in the Midlands Category: Industry
Trinity Mirror is to close nine local newspapers in the Midlands and make almost 120 staff redundant. The publisher confirmed today its intention to close a string of weekly papers in Birmingham and Coventry and across its Midlands Weeklies operation, which will have a knock-on effect to other parts of the business and result in approximately 94 redundancies from a number of departments. These newspaper closures will mean Trinity Mirror's offices in Burton on Trent and Walsall will also close and the operation of the company's Midlands printing business will go into review to determine the best course of action to "sustain the longer-term future of the site". |
