7 Swans a Swimming | Who’s virtually partying hardest?

16th December 2020

So Christmas Party Season 2020 is strange in more ways than one this year, but we’re delighted to see so many business pulling out all the stops to still offer some sort of festivities to colleagues at the end of a challenging year!

Here are a few great examples of virtual Christmas Parties from across the Industry, so if you’ve not held yours yet be inspired at the lengths teams are going to, to maintain engagement and have some fun over the Festive period…

Colleagues at the Guardian have been enjoying the treat of shopping vouchers and individual virtual team parties, with activities such as online bingo, scavenger hunts and quizzes.  An award ceremony was held to thank and reward team members for their hard work this year and team members have been nominating each other for awards to celebrate those who have gone above and beyond to be team players or supportive of other colleagues during the lock-down.

Marketforce colleagues held virtual team Christmas parties – with one team using Elfster to organise their Secret Santa so everyone received a gift at home ahead of the party. Gifts had to be wearable to the virtual event so cue lots of silly hats and Christmas jumpers! A team quiz and celebration of achievements from the year followed… a great way to have some fun as a team and maintain close bonds whilst not being able to see each other in the flesh.

Like so many others this was a first for Frontline going virtual for their 2020 Christmas Party!!  Colleagues enjoyed a virtual awards ceremony followed by some festive fun, including competitions for the best dressed tree and best Christmas jumpers, a Festive Quiz & Raffle. There were 2 additional award categories including some lock-down specific categories, and after parties for individual teams to celebrate how they wanted. A highlight was the company mash up song of 12 days of Christmas, performed by colleagues who sent in video clips and a video call from Santa himself!

Future sent out goody boxes to their team members which included food and Christmas props for a ‘year in review’ virtual party. They also had a virtual escape room on the cards – a great way for some pre-Christmas team bonding and laughs.

Hearst also took the opportunity to send team members goody boxes, hold virtual quizzes and even had a virtual gingerbread reindeer bake-off. Their review of the year was a way to celebrate the highs and lows of the last 12 months

Global Media Hubs virtual Christmas Party included host quiz master Matt holding a virtual event with some festive tipple and sweet treats to accompany. Great to see such a great effort with those party hats at the ready!

A virtual Christmas Quiz for head office staff was hosted by Jon with a tricky final round based on festive cocktails taking the competition down to the wire. Lots of festive backgrounds and outfits were on display with vouchers up for grabs for the winner, and the winner of a best decorated home competition. Christmas jumper celebrations, team quizzes, festive baking and individual depot celebrations continue through December.
