Gold Key Media working with the NHS

28th April 2020
Gold Key Media have set up and created an initiative whereby they are supplying NHS staff in hospitals with complimentary newspapers and magazines in a dedicated display rack.. The NHS have created wellness rooms for staff to escape briefly and to allow them to switch off. These “Recharge Hubs” allow beleaguered staff some small moments of relaxation and escapism, before they head back to the wards. Racks are located in London hospitals including Guys, St Thomas, St George’s , Queen Elizabeth and many more sites. GKM now have 10 locations across London and growing.

The support from publishers has been incredible, with over 50 titles already supplying copies for these stand and lounges. All publishers have been very generous, and the feedback and photos GKM receive have been shared with all those participating. Publishers can see the difference they are making, and the positive impact this initiative is having.
To compliment this activity Gold Key Media have adapted their digital entertainment platform, designing a bespoke NHS platform and enabling it to be accessed to NHS workers through their dedicated NHS e-mail address.

In addition to the deliveries to the NHS Hospitals. Many hotels and private clubs have also re opened their doors to accommodate essential workers from both the NHS and Military, such as Claridges, Holiday Inn’s, Cavalry & Guards Club and The Berkeley Hotel has created a 999 drive in for police and ambulance crews to get free food and a newspaper too. Gold Key Media have diverted supplies to ensure publishers are still capturing readers in all of these locations to support their generosity.
Chris Horn, Gold Key Media’s Managing Director, said “Our team are incredibly proud to be serving the NHS in their hour of need and doing what we can to support them. Our publisher clients have also been amazing in their support and flexibility throughout the crisis and we will honour and reward that support by ensuring we continue to operate 24/7 to ensure the news continues to be delivered where it’s needed”

Residential Distribution

Audience engagement agency Gold Key Media continues to remain fully operational throughout the Coronavirus crisis.
With many publishers being unable to place copies on airlines and into hotels the GKM team have adapted their distribution programme to provide a fully ABC compliant residential letterbox solution to ensure continued readership. Utilizing Mosaic demographic profiling software, they’ve been able to identify relevant postcodes to match targeted audiences. Publishers are now using this new route to market to solicit new subscription sales.
The letterbox delivery option opens up access to residences across Greater London, targeting from 5000 to 1 million individual addresses. Readers are very time rich during this period of lock down and social distancing, meaning they are able to fully engage with magazine and newspapers and other offers.
