Darren Barker is set to be announced as managing director of Newsprinters, succeeding Andrew Hopkins who departed last month.
News UK chief financial officer Chris Longcroft said this morning: “Darren has been with the company for coming up to 19 years and most recently headed up the Logistics function.
“His experience and knowledge of the business as well as his drive make him the ideal appointment for this role to continue to move Newsprinters forward as a sustainable provider to the industry for print, distribution and ancillary services.
“The selection process showed just how much depth and breadth this organisation has. It is always great to be able to promote from within and I know that Darren will look to help develop our talent to ensure that we continue to invest in our people.
“These are, as ever, incredibly busy times as we look to secure more volumes for our sites, provide a wider range of services to our partner publishers and look to secure our route to market with the wholesalers, including through our own DTR capabilities.“
Darren served on the Ace General Committee for 5 years and held the position of Chair in 2011
